 I'd really, really like to see this behaviour improved.  In our
 environment, one of the most common complaints about Pidgin is that, for
 whatever reason, folks still have their status set to "I'm not here right
 now" even after they've come back to the computer.  Much better if the
 status text is never changed in the first place.
