 Upgraded my Pidgin client to 2.6.3 (sorry, do not know what from) to see
 if it would fix a problem I was having with AIM.  Now I cannot connect to
 jabber.  Get "Server closed the connection"

 jabber admin does not see problem

 turned on debug window, following is the error shown there.
