Comment:

 ctrl-w is set to the menu item binding for Conversation->Close,
 [wiki:"Using Pidgin#HowdoIbindkeystrokestomenuitems" remove] that binding
 and if GTK+ is set up to use emacs keybindings (I'm not sure it is by
 default on Windows) then the delete-word-backward action will be used
 instead.
