Comment:

 Right, linkification is formatting and so ctrl-r (reset formatting)
 removes it. Which is also why certain protocols don't auto-linkify your
 pasted text, they don't support formatting. Hmm, I had assumed that Paste
 as Plain Text avoided the auto-linkification but a quick test indicates
 that it may not be doing that. I think it almost certainly should. I'm
 making this ticket about that, because I'm not at all sure what the
 correct thing to do is if someone edits an auto-linkified URL (I can see
 arguments for both options, de-linkify until done editing and edit just
 the presentation and not the underlying URL).
