 Ok, I got the problem solved.
 However before you close this ticket ;)

 I took a look at the logs and saw that in debug.log the problem stops
 after a certain contact (skortmans) this guy is from my school and he uses
 the kMess client. I deleted him from my contact list to see if this was
 the problem, and after I deleted him (and Pidgin crashed again) I
 restarted. Pidgin has been running fine ever since.

 Maybe this is a problem between Pidgin and kMess?
