New description:

 There seems like there is a problem with registering new accounts on XMPP
 servers from within pidgin 2.6.1 because it crashes on two separate
 machines both running XP. The crash occurs right after clicking the button
 to register and add the new account (before showing the confirmation
 windows that asks for a username and password for the new account).

 Account settings: old ssl, manual port 5223, the rest as default.

 Registering the same account with identical settings worked fine when
 later doing it from the linux port of 2.6.1.

 edit: The same thing happens in the debug version of 2.6.2.
