Comment:

 Are you asking that when you shift-click on the user in the room occupant
 list that the nickname get placed in the input area so that you can direct
 the message to that person? If so are you aware that pidgin supports tab-
 completion in the input box? That is you can simply start typing the
 nickname and hit <tab> and pidgin will complete the nickname (or indicate
 that there are multiple choices and let you keep typing before hitting
 <tab> again).
