 Hello Maiku ,

 A small update. I installed Ubuntu inside Virtualbox on the Mac.

 Then I called pidgin-to-pidgin from the Ubuntu on my laptop to the pidgin
 inside Virtualbox. It seemed to work fine as I did not get any "farsight-
 error:108 Could not establish connection" in the pidgin debug log. I could
 hear from the mic on my laptop on the iMac speakers (and I couldnt test
 the other way as VirtualBox does not allow guest OS to use mic on  Mac OS
 X)

 So this problem seems isolated to pidgin-pidgin calling when both users
 are on fedora ( as was the case when I called my bro).

 Any hints on how to debug this further now?
