 This happened to me after I updated to 2.6.2. I went to get a debug log
 (because I like it when bugs are fixed!) and realized that keeping the
 debug log window open prevented the bug from happening. So, I decided to
 quit Pidgin and follow the instructions for generating a debug log when
 you start Pidgin from the command line. When I started it this way, the
 bug disappeared. I quit and started it the normal way and was still unable
 to replicate the bug.

 I'm not at a point where I can restart my computer to see if this only
 affects Pidgin when it's been opened at startup, but that's where I'd go
 next.

 I'd hate to see this bug closed under WONTFIX because it was impossible to
 get a debug log for this.
