 I'm running Ubuntu 8.10 64-bit on a Lenovo ThinkPad T500. The  version of
 Pidgin that came with this distribution correctly used the Gnome Proxy
 Settings. A few weeks ago, I was notified of an update which I applied.
 The Pidgin version is now 2.6.1. It no longer uses the Gnome Proxy
 Settings. Instead I have to manually set the proxy for each account. A
 friend of mine, using the same hardware, but running Fedora 9 has the
 identical problem. Prior to the update, Gnome Proxy Settings were used and
 after the update (which we both did on the same weekend) we had to
 manually set the proxy for each account. I use AOL, Yahoo, and Google.

 I'm attaching a file with output collected from the debug window for
 GoogleTalk and AOL.
