 I am on pidgin v.2.6.2 to which i recently updated but somehow idle status
 change never happens.The status remains whatever it was. The Preferences
 have been set to change the status to set 'Away' after 6 mins of idle and
 this used to work on v2.6.1 but it isn't working on updated version.

 Let me know all details needed to track such issues.
