Comment:

 I could have sworn I had that selected and it didn't work.  Flipping the
 "SSL" button works this time.

 I must have had the proxy set to "use environment" last time I tried, and
 we use proxy auto-configuration, which Pidgin does not understand/import
 from either Firefox or IE.
