Comment(by purplesubmarine):

 added a bunch of debug logs and updated pidgin.rpt. notice i tried
 libpecan for a while, but it crashed again a while after installing it so
 i switched back.

 also pidgin somehow doesn't seem to be logging crashes in the .rpt
 anymore, not sure why.
