 just to add to the cause

 i began having this problem after the last upgrade from ver 2.6.1 to ver
 2.6.2

 tried with msn-pecan but it didn't got better

 now i had to stop using pidgin for msn

 i have pidgin 2.6.2 over windows vista ultimate 32bit
