 Use Case:
I work in a team of 15 people, I need to quickly check if its OK to
 restart a server we use.
 IDEAL WORLD:
I go to pidgin and click on the first contact in the team group, then
shift+click on the last contact in the group and then right click and
choose "New Chat..." Pidgin opens a new chat window and invites all the
 selected contacts.
 REAL WORLD:
I go to pidgin, right click on the first contact in the team group and
choose "New Chat...". A new chat window opens with the first contact, then
I go to the contact list and drag the second contact to the chat, then
press enter to dismiss the "Invite to chat" dialog, repeat this step
another 12 times until everybody is in the chat.

Now let's suppose I need to include the QA team into the chat (6 more
contacts) to check with them if it's OK to restart the database server we
 use.
 IDEAL WORLD:
I click on the first QA team contact, then shift+click in the last and
drag the 6 contacts into the chat.
 REAL WORLD:
I go to the contact list and drag the first QA contact to the chat, then
press enter to dismiss the "Invite to chat" dialog, repeat this step
another 5 times until everybody is in the chat.

Is that hard to understand that this is a feature almost every modern GUI
 supports?
Can't you see how tedious and annoying it is to repeat the same action
multiple times when it can be done in fewer steps?
