 I have this problem too and it only happens when I use Pidgin.

 Don't bother trying to get help from these guys.

 They gave me the runaround and closed the bug on me when I reported this
 error.

 It's been a problem prettymuch as long as Pidgin has existed.

 As you can see, there have been many tickets opened for this issue, all of
 which have received one of various unfortunate replies including "I don't
 care," "it's not our fault go talk to Yahoo," "this is not our job" and
 "it's obviously something you're doing wrong":
