 Are you actually using 2.6.5?  This was accidentally not fixed up until
 2.6.[45] (I can't recall which), but should definitely work properly in
 2.6.5 (and 2.6.6).

 I'll look at the other character ranges (you have the invalid ones
 backwards; #xE000-#xFFFD and the other are actually the ''allowed'' ones,
 but anyway, I'll try to test that (Pidgin won't allow them to be input ;)
 )
