 This problem first appeared to me in Ubuntu 10.04 with Pidgin version
 2.6.6. What I found as a workaround was to disabled Clientlogin and SSL
 Encryption for the time being. I'm hoping this might be useful to some who
 prefer to be able to contact mobile contacts.
