 I believe that I am experiencing the same issue, with the dictionaries for
 da_DK and en_GB - but I have a slight elaboration of the problem.

 Pidgin is set up to use da_DK as default.
 When I open a new chat window, right-click and look at the settings under
 the Languages header the spot indicating the current selection is da_DK.
 Even so, the spell checking is for english.
 If I then ''re-choose'' da_DK from the menu (even though it is selected)
 the spell check works correctly for danish.

 When I close the chat window and reopen it, the problem resets.

 Version 2.7.2 (but has been a nuisance for some time now)
 OS:  Win XP
