 I first noticed this around the time I updated to the latest version of
 Pidgin, which would have been maybe a day or so after the update was
 released.

 The problem is that adding new buddies to my Buddy List has become hit or
 miss, with two out of three attempts ending in failure. AIM especially is
 problematic, and going to another client (i.e. eBuddy) to add new buddies
 results in the same problem.

 Here is what happens, step by step: I open up the Add Buddy menu, type in
 the info, and hit save, like I usually do. No change from my normal. Then,
 the new buddy doesn't appear online - not necessarily unusual unless you
 know that they're online. If I choose to display offline buddies, the new
 buddy shows up as blocked, and attempting to unblock them results in an
 error message that states than I cannot add the buddy for an unknown
 reason.
