 kind of a sticky and tough-to-describe situation here, but here goes: I'm
 trying to add a buddy to my MSN contact list. He has a yahoo.com mail
 account, which is incidentally used as a .NET passport account for use
 with the Windows Live network. Simply put, the @yahoo.com address actually
 serves as his screen name for the MSN protocol.

 When I try to add him as a contact via Pidgin's MSN protocol, the program
 seems to add him as a yahoo user (not an MSN user, as it should be) and as
 such he only shows up as online in my Pidgin contact list when he is
 checking his Yahoo Mail. and I can't contact him when he's actually
 available on MSN.

 testing in Windows Live Messenger, it seems to recognize that this one
 address actually has two accounts associated with it and it adds both of
 them to my contact list (both the Yahoo and the .NET-enabled accounts.) In
 Pidgin, it seems to default to Yahoo because it's a @yahoo.com address
 when in actuality this is an MSN account.
