New description:

 For whatever reason, the last few days, I've noticed that if I send an IM
 to someone using AIM, my message gets transmitted, and then I can see that
 the recipient "is typing..."  but the reply never comes, except sometimes
 several hours later, in a new message window, with the Username listed as
 @aim.com.  I don't know whether this is a problem with Pidgin or AIM, but
 it's certainly frustrating, so I figure'd I would see whether anyone has
 encountered any similar problems or might have some advice on fixing this.

 P.S. I tried using classic AIM and messages were sent and received
 normally.
