 No, there shouldn't be any files dependent on the Pidgin installation
 directory used for DNS at all.

 Are you saying that on the '''same computer''' it works fine if installed
 to "Program Files", but not if you install to a user directory (that
 wouldn't make any sense)?

 Can you attach the debug log from the working version on the same
 computer?
