 I am using pidgin at work and i have many chats with coworkers across the
 day - very often interrupted and continued sometimes after hours. I would
 not have my chat windows open the hole day, but when chat continues i have
 to go into the chat log to look for something.

 It would be nice if the Chat window have a new option: enable 'splitt
 screen mode'.

 This mode should display in the upper half of the window the chats from
 log in a text area and in the lower half of the window the well known text
 area of the ccurrent chat.

 The separator beween these ares should be moveable up and down.

 The above text area should list (top->down) from old to new all lines of
 all chats from log should be listed here - separated by a horizontal line
 between the sessions. Messages should be colored but with a pale color
 theme to indicate that they come out of the logs (maybe a grey background
 color would help).
