#12575: Silent installation on Windows fails if Pidgin is running
------------------------------------------+---------------------------------
 Reporter: baffoni | Owner: datallah
     Type: defect | Status: new
Component: winpidgin (gtk) | Version: 2.7.3
Keywords: Install kill running process |
------------------------------------------+---------------------------------
2.7.2 (running), 2.7.3 installing. Test system is windows 7 x64
 Professional.

We are trying to push out upgrades of Pidgin to our windows users as
updates (particularly critical, security ones) are available. However,
the typical user keeps pidgin running 24x7. Running a standard push
update as defined by our patch system (LANDesk 8.8), the installer is not
properly killing the running pidgin application prior to install, so that
install is failing. Failure report is that install failed while running
commands, reported status is "kill process pidgin.exe was done". The
install is running as local system context. Executable name is
 "pidgin-2.7.3-offline.exe".

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help better define the
problem and/or troubleshoot the root cause (this is my first ticket for
 Pidgin).

 Thanks.
