#13067: Contacts display as going online when they go offline
------------------------+---------------------------------------------------
Reporter: Taemojitsu | Owner: QuLogic
Type: defect | Status: new
Component: MSN | Version: 2.7.7
Keywords: Kerberos |
------------------------+---------------------------------------------------
OS: Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid) / Gnome
Protocol: MSN (Pidgin default, no plugin)
Contacts are not shown as logging off at the time they log off. Sending a
message to them will result in the message "Message could not be sent
because the user is offline: <message>" while the contact continues to be
displayed as online, whereas the normal result of sending a message to a
user in MSN should be no error message and they receive the message when
they log in.
The contact will continue to be displayed as online until the user logs
out and back in again.
This can be easily tested when the user adds themself as a contact, and
attempts to go in Invisible mode. With this bug, they will appear to be
online, even if the previous status was Busy or Away.
1) Available, shows as available
2) Change status to Away, shows as away
3) Change status to Invisible, shows as available
This problem only appeared yesterday, possibly due to an update to
Kerberos:
Commit Log for Thu Dec 9 11:19:04 2010
Upgraded the following packages:
libgssapi-krb5-2 (1.8.1+dfsg-2ubuntu0.3) to 1.8.1+dfsg-2ubuntu0.4
libk5crypto3 (1.8.1+dfsg-2ubuntu0.3) to 1.8.1+dfsg-2ubuntu0.4
libkrb5-3 (1.8.1+dfsg-2ubuntu0.3) to 1.8.1+dfsg-2ubuntu0.4
libkrb5support0 (1.8.1+dfsg-2ubuntu0.3) to 1.8.1+dfsg-2ubuntu0.4
However, as this is a security update it was also applied to Lucid (as
opposed to lucid-updates), so I don't know how to revert back to version
2ubuntu0.3 to isolate Pidgin's interaction with Kerberos as the cause of
this issue.
