Comment:

 That solved the problem.

 I started pidgin from command line with the -n flag and disabled the
 facebook account before setting pidgin to online status.

 Last facebook plugin version I had was 1.67

 I downloaded 1.69, installed and restarted pidgin.

 All OK now.
