 For the record, I went to apply this patch and found that it doesn't apply
 cleanly.  If we want to ever commit this patch, we'd likely need to apply
 it with the "daggy" method (update to the 2.0.0beta7 tag, apply the patch,
 commit, then try to merge and see if mtn can handle it for us relatively
 easily).
