Comment:

 Daniel also has a patch (just noting it here for completeness).  My one
 concern about this is that I ''think'' there are OSes where you can't have
 a dual socket (bind to IPv6, but still can accept IPv4 connections),
 although perhaps that's not actually what you were attempting.
