 If you'd like to be helpful, please follow my directions above and attach
 a debug log to this ticket (leave a note when you've done so).  Do make
 sure you're using Pidgin 2.6.5 before doing so, as this issue is similar
 to one that was explicitly fixed in 2.6.3 or 4.
