 actually I was referring to pidgin not checking the buddy icons and
 account alias names (is that the correct term?), not the protocol icons.

 The problem, for example with icq, is, that only the ICQ
 number at icq.gmx.net is shown, not the alias name for the account.

 That does not seem like the bug described in
 http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/6410
 That bug is referring to the protocol icons, if I read it correctly.
