 I can confirm this occurs for XMPP also.
 Also, if an AIM user is available only on his cell phone that's linked to
 his account, the buddy icon for the account isn't downloaded.
 I can see how this could be a problem for users with extremely large buddy
 lists, but shouldn't there at least be an option for other users?
