Hello,
I'd like to request an enhancement to have Pidgin immediately reconnect an
account after one modifies the account from the button presented in the
buddy list toaster message.
For our users, they are required to change their password via an online
tool every 60 days. When they do this and have the current password saved
locally in Pidgin, they are no longer able to connect and are presented
the "toaster message" in the buddy list window that their account is
disabled with an option to "Modify Account". They modify the account and
click "Save". Then what?
The current behaviour is that after some timeout occurs, pidgin will
attempt to reconnect the account. The amount of time that passes confuses
the users as they are not sure what is going on.
I've a couple of suggestions to help with this.
1) Don't remove the toaster message if one clicks "Modify", then once
completed, they could then click "Reconnect" immediately.
or
2) Have Pidgin immediately attempt a reconnect after saving.
I bugged you guys on IRC about this and someone indicated that #2 should
be happening currently. I don't believe it is, as it takes some time to
have the account try again.
Thank you for your consideration.
