 The reason that this works the way it does appears to be because of the
 locale-dependent behavior of the
 [http://library.gnome.org/devel/glib/unstable/glib-Unicode-
 Manipulation.html#g-utf8-collate g_utf8_collate] function.

 It isn't clear to me whether what you're seeing is actually a bug or not.
