 The ticket was not to display something other than the status.  The reason
 I might want to do this is not to identify which protocol is being used (I
 believe this was your objection) but to be able give greater variation for
 those protocols which have more default statuses.  Also, in addition to
 extra states, there are similar states.  One status might mean different
 things depending upon the protocol.  For example, Busy might be akin to Do
 Not Disturb on some protocols, even though the text is the same.  So,
 having a protocol-specific ''status'' icon as an option would improve the
 interface twofold.

 I was taken aback by the brevity of the closed-wontfix message without any
 discussion.  I think this is a very reasonable thing to ask, and don't
 think that it's out of scope.
