 I have test this with a protable version of pidgin (2.6.6):
 Portable - Pidgin Variante 1 from http://www.portable-pidgin.de/

 If i send a Message with ICQ, i became this error:

 '''(4:31:03 PM) Unable to send message.'''

 In my Debug Windows i find this:

 (16:31:03) oscar: Claiming to have a buddy icon

 (16:31:03) oscar: Sending IM, charset=0x0000, charsubset=0x0000, length=0
