#11074: Pidgin eats up processor soon after starting
--------------------------+-------------------------------------------------
Reporter: patman0623 | Owner: rekkanoryo
Type: defect | Status: new
Component: unclassified | Version: 2.6.4
Keywords: Ubuntu, |
--------------------------+-------------------------------------------------
I did not experience this problem until after 2.6.4 was installed, though
it may be an Ubuntu Karmic issue, as I installed both at the same time.
After Pidgin starts, it will be successful for a small amount of time, but
then my process monitor indicates it is eating up all free processor
cycles. It will not stop until Pidgin is exited - even closing all windows
and disabling all accounts so I can see the "Welcome to Pidgin" screen
does not stop it.
Apologies for not having debug symbols; they are not available on the
Ubuntu repository for 2.6.4.
As you can see, debugging seems to indicate it's a call to
/sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/poll.c
I consider it to be a rather major bug, as Pidgin has become unusable for
me unless I don't mind my computer heating up like a volcano.
