Comment(by plastic):
I also think that the current behavior can be very annoying.
The time and place where new login windows pop up is random. Sometimes the
active window is hidden behind several inactive windows.
And almost every time I start pidgin and start typing a password into one
dialog, another password dialog pops up and grabs focus.
Sometimes I don't notice and type the last few letters of the password
into a window that popped up and hit enter so I'm not logged into the
first one and get an authentication error in the second one.
Of course, I can wait until every window has popped up and then select one
window after another to enter the passwords.
But it would be a lot more convenient if I could just start pidgin and
enter one password after another without having to select a window and
without being interrupted.
Maybe tabs would be a solution.
