#11126: Core dump when trying to start pidgin
--------------------+-------------------------------------------------------
Reporter: janielu | Type: defect
Status: new | Component: pidgin (gtk)
Version: 2.0.2 | Keywords: core dump, segfault
--------------------+-------------------------------------------------------
 Hi There.

I'm running Solaris. I open pidgin by running:

 /pkg/gnome/bin/pidgin

Lately it's been crapping out as follows:
 ---------------------------------
-> Pidgin 2.6.2 has segfaulted and attempted to dump a core file.
This is a bug in the software and has happened through
 no fault of your own.

If you can reproduce the crash, please notify the developers
 by reporting a bug at:
 http://developer.pidgin.im/simpleticket/

Please make sure to specify what you were doing at the time
and post the backtrace from the core file. If you do not know
how to get the backtrace, please read the instructions at
 http://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/GetABacktrace

 [1] Abort /pkg/gnome/bin/pidgin (core dumped)

 ---------------------------------

I followed the directions posted to get a backtrace, and after running gdb
and eventually enter "run" per the instructions, pidgin opens fine so I
can't reproduce the problem in gdb. BUT if I'm not running gdb, running
 /pkg/gnome/bin/pidgin still core dumps.

Got any ideas? In the meanwhile I'll run gdb to use pidgin, ha.

BTW I know this pidgin version is really old. I work for Sun Microsystems
and this is the version my group is using.
