 Go to Preferences -> Conversation and type something in the `Default
 formatting` test text area. Then change the `Conversation font` to
 something that looks radically different. The text's font will not update.
 You have to close the dialog and open it again for the test text to be
 rendered using the newly selected font. This makes font selection
 difficult, e.g. if you're looking for a Unicode font to display text like
 `http://wiki.perlassociation.org/日本語テスト`
