 I think that the "clear scrollback" command is too easy to trigger by
 accident.

 You can easily click it while trying to select the "Save As" option in the
 Conversation menu. I use Firefox, and I press Ctrl+L to select the address
 bar. If I accidentally do this when Pidgin is focused, then my
 conversation history is gone with no easy way to get it back.

 Someone [http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/8255 suggested] showing a
 confirmation dialog, but I think that is somewhat annoying. I think a
 better option would be to allow the user to undo the command.
