Comment:

 As indicated on the launchpad bug, this is not a bug, and we do not
 directly require GConf.  GConf is used '''only''' when in GNOME to get
 various pieces of information such as the browser, proxy settings, etc.
 If PPA packages are requiring gconf to be installed, it is because
 Ubuntu's official packages do as well, and all our PPA does is package the
 new version using Ubuntu's existing patches and build methods.
