 When the interface language is set to German, the menu shorcut for turning
 the log on and off is set to "shift-M" ("Mittschnitt"). This is
 interpreted globally, even if the menu "Optionen" is not open, so you
 cannot type a capital "M" in any message. The logging state is switched
 instead.
