 It would be great of the buddy ticker had more of the features that the
 normal buddy list has (namely the new mail notification at the top of the
 buddy list).

 A use case could be that the buddy ticker is the only visible window, in
 which case the user wants to be able to see if there is new mail in their
 inbox by just glancing at the already open window.

 Keeping the ticker's slim/minimalist profile would be ideal. One possible
 option might be the addition of a "New Mail" box (with a number) that
 appears on the end of the ticker (not necessarily ticking with buddies)
 when there is new mail.
