#12312: GoDaddy Root Certificate and wildcard bug
-----------------------------------------+----------------------------------
Reporter: ladar | Owner: darkrain42
Type: defect | Status: new
Milestone: 2.7.2 | Component: libpurple
Version: 2.7.1 | Resolution:
Keywords: godaddy certificate ssl tls |
-----------------------------------------+----------------------------------
Comment(by ladar):
Added screenshots of wildcard cert, single name cert and mismatch. When I
went to generate the screenshots for you, I figured out why I saw the
mismatch. It was because I was using an IP in the server field during
testing. After spending 20 hours in an IDE, I think I read localhost as
lavabit.com, and thought the wildcard was the reason for the mismatch.
After all, I was supplying the JID ladar at lavabit.com, and I must have
thought the mismatch was a mismatch on the realm. The wildcard mismatch
bug is a problem I've hit with a few email clients, and I jumped to
conclusions.
When I connect to the live lavabit.com service via XMPP, I only get the
missing validation error which can be easily fixed by adding the Valicert
(and presumably GoDaddy) root certificates. Both are available at the link
in the original ticket. Could you kindly add them to the shipping
collection of ca-certs? Pretty please?
