 Currently my Pidgin fails to connect to Yahoo!. The connection times out
 after a while, giving me the usual message box about whether I want to
 edit the connection or try to reconnect.

 Looking at the wiresharked traffic, it seems Pidgin is trying to contact
 vcs1.msg.yahoo.com (98.136.48.32 for me). It sends a SYN, and that's it:
 no reply, no ICMP errors, nothing.

 The official Yahoo! client does connect, though. Comparing the traffic it
 seems that the official client does the same request in parallel for
 vcs2.msg.yahoo.com as well. It doesn't get more reply for cvs1 than Pidgin
 does, but as vcs2 does answer, it probably uses that reply to continue
 connecting.

 So one solution would be for Yahoo! to fix their one server, but a long-
 term improvement to Yahoo! support in Pidgin would be having it do two
 requests in parallel as well.

 I see that current trunk doesn't even mention vcs1.msg.yahoo.com, but the
 2.7 releases do, so this might be worth addressing in that series at
 least.
