 I can confirm when using QQ here in China via Pidgin, I get constant
 ReCaptcha requests, sometimes as many as 10, before it either allows me in
 or kicks me out and the account is disabled, and you have to go to
 http://jihuo.qq.com to enable your account again - and give a new
 password.

 Then, you can reconnect with the new password via Pidgin until the process
 starts again. Very annoying as I want to use Pidgin and not infect my
 computer with QQ's IM program. However, many Chinese friends are only on
 QQ.

 This is a big deal for users of Pidgin and the Chinese market is
 potentially huge, as many "switched on" Chinese do not like or trust QQ.

 Perhaps QQ are trying hard to block third party apps, as their business
 model here in China is heavily dependant on advertising - and the Chinese
 are avid clickers on adverts!
