 This may be the same issue that was reported in Ticket #11740 (new
 defect), but I couldn't figure out how to append/link to the ticket, nor
 could I find information about a workaround or resolution.

 Error Changing Account Info
 “Error 0x0001:  Unable to format username because the requested name
 differs from the original”.

 I downloaded Pidgin 2.7.1 for the first time ever in June 2010 and set up
 three accounts in Pidgin at that time:  Yahoo, Google, and AIM.  A few
 weeks after initial setup, I began receiving the above error each time
 Pidgin launches at startup and when re-enabling my AIM account after I
 have disabled or deleted it.  I do not receive the error when re-enabling
 Yahoo or Google accounts.  I am still able to send/receive IM via the AIM
 account despite the error.
