Comment:

 Yes I have both a gmail account and a google apps account configured.

 Both specify "talk.google.com" in the settings for the account.  In fact
 the settings for both accounts are identical (with the exception of the
 username/password).

 This only occurs with the @gmail.com account as when it is disabled there
 is no issue.
