 This is probably a duplicate of Ticket #2122 however I disagree with the
 reason it was closed / set to wontfix.

 I prefer to have my buddy list as compact as possible yet I would like to
 utilize the available space to the right for the status message of my
 buddies. The way it works now a lot of buddies are "hidden" for me if I
 want to show the status message by turning on show buddy details. I would
 like to see at least some of the status message!

 An alternative to this would be to autosort buddies based on activity e.g.
 changed status message and/or status would cause a buddy to show higher on
 the list. You would need to be able to lock buddies in place for this to
 work
